Context
Lightening the development team’s workload
A startup specialized in IoT offers a hypervisor for remotely controlling building equipment (lighting, air conditioning, alarm systems, etc.). Its development team, already heavily tasked with the ongoing evolution of the product, needed to focus on expert tasks and delegate tedious data entry tasks.
Our mission was to design UX/UI mockups of forms to gather customer feedback, with the key criteria being intuitive, easy to use and user-friendly so that other employees, not just the overloaded developers, could take over the task and eventually replace them in data entry.
To achieve this, we had to investigate existing processes, anticipate the needs of end users and ensure that all teams would benefit from improved efficiency and a better working environment.
Our approach
A user-centered approach based on real needs
We began by organizing observation and immersion workshops to precisely understand the field constraints and the concrete expectations of the operational teams. By analyzing their habits, we identified the main pain points, including complex data entry forms that were neither clear nor easy to understand for non-developers.
-
The design of the new form mockups had to be centered around the user experience
-
The structure and ergonomics offer a simple breakdown: clearly labeled fields, a logical flow, and visual cues to guide the user
-
Each design step was validated through regular exchanges with the client to stay constantly aligned
-
The use of Figma facilitated collaboration through the tool’s features
We finalized the mockups in a few weeks while allowing for future scalability with possible additions.
Results
Ready-to-integrate mockups
The operational teams appreciated the fluidity of our work and the ease of use offered by the new mockups. Once implemented, these mockups are designed to save significant time for the new team in their data entry tasks.
This new approach allows the startup to better structure its priorities: significantly lighten the developers’ workload and benefit from a new ergonomic and efficient tool within a tight deadline. This experience serves as the foundation for other UX/UI projects, helping the startup focus on IoT innovation rather than time-consuming data entry tasks.
