The quest for a secure remote work
In response to the rise of remote work, a small business in the automotive sector faced a major challenge: securing remote employee connections while ensuring a simple user experience. Since many of the employees were not tech-savvy, the solution needed to allow them to access their work tools remotely without difficulty—and with the assurance that sensitive data wouldn’t be intercepted or compromised.
The solution had to combine strong security with ease of use and support both Windows and Linux, the two operating systems used in the company.
Solutions
OpenSense, a secure and simplified approach
We configured a VPN based on OpenSense, a robust and flexible open-source solution. An OpenVPN server was deployed on a Linux system, with user profiles configured to secure each connection through a unique access key.
To simplify the process for employees, ready-to-use configuration files were provided, allowing fast and intuitive setup even for non-technical users. Additionally, to reinforce security, we implemented network segmentation, limiting access to only the resources required based on employee roles.
Resultats
A seamless, fully secured solution
The deployment of the OpenSense VPN successfully met our goals for both security and simplicity. Remote connections are now fully encrypted end-to-end, offering peace of mind for both employees and the company.
Everyone can now connect with a single click—on both Windows and Linux devices. User and permission management is now centralized, providing greater control over access and security.
